You’ve gotta see this GREAT new venue that Acoustic Garden has put together – a great new stage at the intersection of 4 sims by the piazza.  Xander Kappler has put so much effort into making it have this amazing look and this great vibe – like all of AG does.  You need to see this place 🙂  NOT TO MENTION – after me there will be 2 more performers – Key Drammond and Sunshine Palmyra – so 3 hours of GREAT music…. come join us!

At the Whisky tonight… and Updating the Blog!!

Hey folks – do ya like the new look for the Blog? I’m in one of my phases where I’m determined to keep this thing up again. LOL.  So I’ve actually created a Facebook presence, and a twitter feed – click the links on the side for both of those!

Tonight, like every Tuesday for the past several months, at 7:00 pm SLT, I’m singing at the fabulous Whisky A Go Go in Second Life, which is modeled on the real one on the Sunset Strip in Hollywood, CA.  The owner of the sim (and venue), Cameron Trenchcoat, has been such an amazing friend and supporter, and it’s such an honor to play at the Whisky regularly.  Norith and I always have such fun there, and it’s just a great place to be.  So I do hope you’ll join us!!  Here’s a link to the SLURL map (it’ll launch your SL browser from there and you can TP straight to the venue in-world.)

Dual Streams, Samples and Upcoming Shows

Dual Streams Everywhere!!

I’ve been dual-streaming a lot lately! I know some of you have heard the term, but may not understand exactly what it entails. Basically, one performer plays and sends out their music like normal. Then the next performer listens to the first performer’s stream, sings or plays along with it, mixes it all together, and streams THAT to the venue and listeners! The first performer doesn’t hear the second performer at all, but it sounds as though both are in the same room.

If you’ve been to any of the shows where I sing with MrMulti Writer, that’s a simple description of what’s happening. Mic sings, I listen and sing along, and then you all hear what –I– send out. (So if the balance is bad, it’s probably my fault.) LOL. I was having some issues recently after reconfiguring my system but *crossing fingers!* it all seems to have been worked out. Mic and I are looking forward to the next duet show this coming Saturday at Acoustic Garden Club!

I’ve also been practicing with and have performed a few times with Maximillion Kleene, a very talented performer I met at the Baltimore Jam. He’s a real pleasure to work with!

Possible future dual streams are in the works with Ed Lowell and Keeba Tammas! Stay Tuned!

More Shows, Mad Uke Skillz and the SL Jam!

Soooo… I think we all agree, I suck at updating a blog. 🙂  I should do it more often, granted, but… well, I don’t always have stuff to say!!

But see, I save it all up and now, I have lots of news!

First: lots of new shows! (edited 5.17.2011 to remove inaccurate schedule info – changed since orig post)

• ACOUSTIC GARDEN CLUB:  Every Saturday at 7pm, I am at Acoustic Garden Club, usually doing duets in a dual-stream show with MrMulti Writer, aka “Mic”. We have a great time and work really hard to come up with great new songs every few weeks or so to keep things fresh. We usually alternate doing duets and solos, so we can do a pretty wide range of songs over the course of a show! Beautiful ambiance in the garden too. Bring someone along!
• INWORLDZ  – Sinatra Jazz – Every other Friday night at 7pm, I’ve got a regular gig at the popular Sinatra Jazz venue in InWorldz. If you haven’t been to InWorldz, give it a try 🙂 It’s a lot of fun there, and everyone is SO friendly!  You can always check my calendar to see if it’s Sinatra Jazz week!  For a LM, look in my picks once you’re in world.

Next bit of news, and the last two are sorta wrapped up together:  I’ve been practicing like MAD on my ukelele, and am happy to report I’m feeling pretty good. What I’m doing is simple, but quite pretty! So… I might be rolling out my debut performance at…

SL MidAtlantic Jam! Yep! That’s right – Norith and I are registered to attend the MidAtlantic Jam (with a few assorted family members too!), and meet in person with a lot of really good friends.  I haven’t seen the official list recently, but I know for a fact that I’ll be meeting MrMulti Writer and the lovely Meetu there! MrMulti will be playing his own set, as well as helping me with music for mine and for our duets! OMG – I’ve been singing with this guy for almost 2 years, and FINALLY I am going to get to meet him!!!

For my bit of the show, you’ll see a healthy mix of duets with MrMulti, solos where I sing and MrMulti plays music for me, a track or two, and … my MAD UKE SKILLZ.  I’m also looking forward to meeting VanMorrison Mint there. Van is the owner of the Saranac House and has been a great friend of mine for a long while now. Norith and I are really looking forward to meeting him!  And yes, Keeba, you’ll get your pics… be careful what you wish for. 😛

Anyway, now you know… the REST of the STORY.  (so far anyhoooo)….

So I’ve been singing again! A few shows here and there… literally :)

I’ve been singing again this past few months, now that I’ve started feeling better and my summer of craziness seems to have settled down.  And when I say I’ve been doing a few shows “here” and “there” — I mean it literally.  I’ve been performing both in SL, and more recently, several shows in “InWorldz”.

InWorldz is an alternate grid, very similar to SL in the basics of the world (because it’s based on the older SL architecture, I think, as are most of the ‘open grid’ sims.. I only have a slight understanding of all this. I’m sure Norith could explain it quite well.. anyway, I digress) — it’s similar to SL in “HOW” things work – but there are a lot of differences too.  It’s like being on the new frontier – not that it’s lawless… just that there’s a sense of “beginning” there.  Of being part of something that’s just starting… and I like it a lot!  There are music venues slowly springing up throughout InWorldz, and I imagine I’ll be singing at some of them pretty regularly going forward – so I may actually begin notating in my calendar “IW – location name” and “SL – location name”… just so people know which Grid to look for me in 🙂

Anyway – I’ve started REALLY doing a lot of work on my Ukulele practice, and I’m improving by leaps and bounds. Nor and I have also started working on putting those original songs of ours into music I can use and play to accompany myself.  So you’re all witnessing what may be the beginning of a new phase for Annan:  performing live, original music played on my own instrument.  I’m SO excited. I love my backtracks, don’t get me wrong – a lot of them are really wonderful music to sing to and I will still be using them! — but it’s a totally different experience as a performer to be able to pick up an instrument and make the music myself that supports my voice… i could go on forever about all of this. LOL. I’ve had a lot pent up, I guess!  Sooo anyway– look for me in IW ok!?  Check out my booth there at this cool place called “Tunez”.  I’d post a slurl, but that only works in chat there, not in links from the web.  So just look for it in my profile picks if you sign in!  Tell ’em Annan sent you!  And if you DO sign on, Friend Me!! You all may have noticed I’m not singing as much….

Just seemed time to step back a bit and take a bit of a rest for my throat and my schedule.

That doesn’t mean I’m not singing. I’ve still got one or two shows every week – it just means I’m not singing at quite as many places quite as frequently! So if you want to see me perform, try to make it to one of the one or two shows that I send notices about. 🙂

So keep an eye on my calendar. I’ve got a new gig tonight, for example, at Zentopia!

And of course there’s always that Saturday night gig at The Saranac House!
